Jonas Nursing and Veterans Healthcare Welcome Event Introduces New Leadership Team

New Executive Director shares 2019 vision and plans to strengthen organization’s impact

On Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Harmonie Club in New York City, Jonas Nursing and Veterans Healthcare (JNVH) hosted the Welcome Event for its new leadership team. With esteemed partners and guests from the nursing education and healthcare sectors in attendance, JNVH Executive Director Dr. Wanda Montalvo shared the organization’s 2019 vision and goals for its signature investment: The Jonas Nurse Scholar program, which addresses the nation’s most pressing healthcare needs through the support of 1,000+ high-potential doctoral nursing scholars across the country.

Since 2008, JNVH has invested nearly $25 million in nursing scholarships, creating a nationwide leadership network that provides support and opportunity for present and future nurse leaders alike. Today, JNVH remains the first and only privately-funded nursing leadership and scholarship organization with a presence in all 50 states.

“Nurses are at the front lines of our nation’s healthcare system, driving important research and clinical practice by providing solutions to improve care overall,” said Dr. Montalvo. “JNVH has made a unique commitment to support and prepare nurses to take on today’s healthcare challenges. As the role of nurses is essential to advancing care, research, education and clinical practice, JNVH aims to provide our Scholars with expanded opportunities to maximize their career potential.”

To do so, JNVH will launch new programming and webinars to Jonas Scholars, alumni, and healthcare professionals to create new networking, education and funding opportunities, as well as promote the dynamic Scholar work in Veterans Healthcare. JNVH’s programming will also honor the legacy of founders Donald Jonas and his late wife Barbara. JNVH will closely collaborate with the JNVH Scholar Alumni Council, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), among others, who help inform how to support and prepare Scholars to make the greatest impact.
