Dissertation: Addressing Health Disparities of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Individuals Description: Significant differences have been found in health-related behaviors, status, access, and utilization of care in LGBT individuals. These disparities exist based on stigmatization, discrimination, and the denial of fundamental civil and human rights. Despite knowledge that these differences exist, much work remains in addressing these concerns for patients, and ultimately patients must be empowered by clinical staff in order to improve outcomes.
