Biography

Ms. Karla Palmer received her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Indiana Wesleyan University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University. She has been employed with Michigan State University in the Undergraduate Program as a fixed term faculty member since 2015. She also continues to work as a School Nurse for St. Johns Public School District and is a member of the Michigan Association of School Nurses. She currently serves as the Director in Michigan for the National Association of School Nurses. She has held her National Certification as a School Nurse since 2013. Ms. Palmer is passionate about school nursing and nursing education and the promotion of positive, healthy habits for all youth. She was designated as a Michigan Fitness Ambassador (2016) for the Michigan Fitness Council. She serves on several community organizations to support student health and wellness. Her research will focus on motivation related to physical activity in the adolescent population during the PhD in Nursing program. Following graduation, she plans to continue this research as a nursing faculty member in a research intensive university.
