Lori Erickson MSN, CPNP-PC is a PhD in Nursing student at the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC). She received a double major in Chemistry and Nursing with graduation in 2006 with a subsequent MSN in Pediatrics from UMKC completing the program in 2009. Currently, Lori is the Cardiac High Acuity Monitoring Program (CHAMP) Clinical Program Manager at Children’s Mercy Kansas City and has been in pediatric nursing since graduation in 2006. This role has provided her with experience in management of multi-site research, project development, and multiple fast moving research projects on the forefront of single ventricle cardiac disease research. Over the last 3 years, for Lori’s work and research in CHAMP and single ventricle cardiac disease grant funds have been nearly $65,000. Lori has numerous experiences in publication and presentation. She was a co-editor in a book chapter for pediatric cardiology in 2015 with a 9th revision of this chapter under review. She has been the first author twice and the 2nd author on two recent publications about CHAMP. Additionally, Lori has had involvement and presentation of 21 referred poster presentations, 10 invited lectures, 17 invited educational presentations, and authorship on 7 published abstracts. Lori’s work with the CHAMP and Ward Family Heart Center team was honored by receiving numerous awards including the 2016 ANCC Magnet Prize, the Society of Pediatric Nursing Excellence in Advanced Practice yearly award in 2017, and the recipient of the 2016 Nurse Scientist Award at CHOP’s yearly Cardiology conference.
Research/Clinical Practice Area: Jonas Scholar – Preventive Health
Dissertation: Lori’s Phd focus is on adherence of mHealth for parents of infants with single ventricle cardiac disease. She is interested in pediatric self-management of this high risk disease and how it impacts parents adherence to advanced technologies.
