Marcy E. Holford, M.S.N., R.N.-B.C., is currently the Director of Nursing at the Wyoming Life Resource Center, in Lander, Wyoming. Prior to her matriculation into doctoral education she received her associates’ degree from Western Wyoming Community College, bachelors’ degree from the University of Wyoming, and masters’ degree from Walden University with emphasis in leadership and management. She is currently a PhD student at the University of Kansas School of Nursing pursuing degree in nursing research with minor in organizational leadership. Her research is informed by her diverse clinical experiences focused on the care of rural adults across the healthcare spectrum, spanning acute care and community settings, as well as her community-based research experiences. Her clinical experience has driven her interest in leveraging resources to facilitate development of rural-specific research to improve health outcomes for rural populations. Her long-term professional goal is to become a nurse researcher who will lead a multidisciplinary team of scholars in advancing and implementing knowledge designed to reduce health disparities experienced by rural populations.
Research/Clinical Practice Area: Jonas Scholar – Environmental Health
Dissertation: Examining the relationship between rural environment and health behavior in individuals residing in designated ‘rural regions’ through investigation of the prevailing socio-cultural context in which these individuals are immersed.
