In 2004 I graduated with a BSN degree from Quinnipiac University. During my studies, I was a board member of the Quinnipiac Student Nurses Society and attended national meetings. I received the Peer Recognition in Nursing Leadership Award acknowledging my future potential in nursing leadership. After graduating with my BSN, I enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Quinnipiac, graduating in 2007 with a MSN-FNP degree. I became a member of Sigma Theta Tau’s Nursing Honor Society during my graduate program. As an APRN, I became immersed in primary/urgent care working for Minute Clinic the first six years of my career. Since then, I have been working at Med Now Urgent Care and Industrial Medical Center in Stratford, CT as the lead APRN and clinical manager. I hold a lecturer position at Yale University School of Nursing where I teach in the Graduate Entry of Practical Nursing program the past 12 years. I recently started teaching in YSN’s Family Nurse Practitioner program. I have authored two consecutive “Allergy & Immunology” chapters in Linda Honan’s 2013 and 2019 (pending) Focus on Adult Health Medical-Surgical Nursing textbooks. While practicing in primary and urgent care settings, I have developed a passion for chronic disease management, specifically mental health. The focus in my DNP education has been on skills to lead change within health systems. I am developing a project in the outpatient setting to address the need for screening patients for mental health disease to improve health outcomes for this population.
