Sabrina is currently a PhD nursing student at Columbia University. She is a direct entry BSN-PhD student, after earning her BSN at Case Western Reserve University. Her research interest focuses specifically on using informatics to work with families and providers to prevent central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) in pediatrics. Her undergraduate experiences have built upon her research interests. During her time at Case Western, she was a research assistant on a team specializing in using mHealth to encourage self-management techniques in individuals with neurodegenerative and musculoskeletal conditions. There, she was able to co-author a literature review that she later presented at the Midwestern Nursing Research Society conference where she was awarded the 3rd place BSN award. Aside from her work as a research assistant, she also worked as a summer nurse extern on the Pediatric Infectious Disease unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where she acquired an interest in enhancing caregiver-provider communication in the pediatric population. Currently as a PhD student, she is able to combine my past experiences and interests by taking a health informatics and family-centered approach to addressing infection control.
