Biography

Aluem Tark moved to U.S. from South Korea when she was 15 years old to pursue her dream of being a future nursing educator and a nursing researcher. She received her Bachelor’s in Nursing degree from Hunter College, and served as a Pediatric Oncology/ Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital-NYP Columbia. She received her Masters in Science of Nursing/ Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Columbia University and decided to pursue PhD in nursing, the year after. Her continued interest in Oncology field as well as Hospital Infection control resulted in numerous Poster Presentations, including “What’s Different about C-Diff?” and “When the End if just a Beginning”. In her most recent poster presentation from International Cancer Education Conference(ICEC), she discussed the issue of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in Pediatric Cancer Survivors and highlighted many research that focused on the importance of bringing awareness to late effects of chemotherapy/ biotherapy among pediatric cancer patients. She is also serving her role of Nurse Practitioner in MinuteClinic, New York City, and enjoys teaching Pediatric Nursing in Monroe College, School of Nursing.
