Amauche Obi-Eyisi, RN

Hunter College DNP
Biography

I came to the United States in 2007 to obtain an undergraduate degree. I obtained my BSN from Hunter Bellevue of Nursing in 2011 and today I work as a public health nurse in Central Harlem. My school clinical experiences were very different from my experiences as a public health nurse. I am currently pursing the DNP in Advanced Public Health Nursing because I want to be able to empower public health nurses and give them a voice. The field of public health nursing is so vast and largely under represented. My goal is to bring some level of recognition to the field. My research and clinical interest is to find cost effective ways in treating bedsores with slough or eschar. The institute of health launched the triple aim agenda in 2013 and since then my organization Visiting Nurse Service of New York has been looking for ways to cut cost while achieving patient satisfaction and optimal care. I have been a visiting nurse for three years, I love what I do and it has given me the opportunity to practice the romanticism of nursing. I have received awards from my organization such as Initiative award (for nurses who demonstrate initiative, perseverance and risk taking) and I have also received an ABCD award, which stands for going Above and Beyond Call of Duty. I am thrilled to be a JONAS-VNSNY Scholar very grateful for the opportunity
