Biography

Ana has over 10 years of experience in healthcare. In the past, Ana has served as a clinical nursing instructor, a research assistant, a vascular access and transfusion specialist, and has provided bedside care in telemetry and intermediate care units. Currently, Ana’s work focuses on providing primary, urgent, and transitional care to a chronically ill and under-served adult population. Ana’s clinical interests include using team based care and technology to improve the health of persons who experience socio-medically complex conditions. Ana has been named Chair Elect of the APRN/PA Council at Seton for the 2016-2017 year, and will move into the position of Chair in 2017-2018. Additionally, Ana was selected to participate in Seton’s Emerging Leader Program in the Spring of 2016. She has previously presented on team based care at The 2016 UT Austin McCombs School of Business Healthcare Symposium. Ana is a member of Texas Nurse Practitioners and has participated in grassroots efforts at the legislature. Ana received her BSN from UT Arlington in 2006 and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She later received her MSN from UT Austin and became a certified nurse practitioner in 2011. In the Fall of 2015, Ana began her doctoral education at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Ana’s passion for lifelong learning, clinical excellence, and leadership led her to pursue the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. Ana resides in Austin with her husband, Andres, son, Daniel, and rescue dog, Rizzo.
