Biography
I am currently a full-time PhD student on the nursing education track at University of Las Vegas, Nevada. My research interest is in exploring the use of academic electronic health records in better preparing undergraduate nursing students for clinical rotations and eventually professional practice. Before academics, my career was in oncology and hospice nursing. My work experience includes overseeing a graduate nurse program in an outpatient oncology setting and as a hospice nurse educator where I was responsible for developing a graduate nurse internship program. It was through these experiences that I discovered my passion for teaching and returned to school. I am currently a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Golden Key International Honor Society, and the Graduate Nursing Student Association. Recent awards include Outstanding Graduate Student Award in 2015, Lahr Scholarship recipient in 2014 and 2015, and a Graduate Assistantship for the upcoming academic year 2016-2017.
