My name is Beverly Scruggs and I am 39 years old. I have worked in the medical field for the past twenty years. I have worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse and now I am currently working as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a rural clinic for the underserved population. I truly love what I do. As a FNP I want to make a difference in the lives of others and improve their quality of care . I feel at this point in my career, gaining further knowledge in health care will give me a greater understanding in delivering the best care to the patients I service daily. I am currently in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program. My clinical interest is health disparities among homeless veterans. Homeless Veterans have numerous physical, social and psychological needs that are often overlooked by health care clinicians. I plan to explore the needs and assess how we can bridge the gap in their care and improve health outcomes. I am a Recipient of the Dean’s List at Manatee Community college, Member of Phi sigma Theta National Honor Society. Magna Cum Laude, National Honor Society. I have been recognized as Nurse Excellence at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and received multiple patient Satisfaction Awards for extraordinary care during my tenure at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
