Biography

Dr. Briana Snyder obtained her bachelor’s degree in ancient and medieval history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was in the first class of Public Service Scholars. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Stevenson University in Maryland and was given the Award for Academic Excellence. Since graduation, Dr. Snyder has worked on the Trauma Disorders Unit at Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. During that time, she has developed expertise in caring for adult survivors of severe childhood abuse and neglect who are diagnosed with dissociative disorders and posttraumatic stress disorder. Dr. Snyder obtained her master’s degree in nursing education from Towson University in Maryland. During her graduate studies, she taught psychiatric nursing to undergraduate nursing students and taught sex education and teen pregnancy prevention to underprivileged minority middle school students in Baltimore City. Dr. Snyder graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with her PhD in Nursing in 2017, with a focus on the prevention and treatment of trauma throughout the lifespan. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Nursing at Towson University in Maryland, where she teaches and conducts research related to psychiatric-mental health nursing. She is also a yoga teacher and Reiki master, which she incorporates into her patient care and research projects.
