Biography

With over 23 years of professional nursing experience, Caroline’s nursing practice combines holistic health approaches and interventions with conventional healthcare. With education in a variety of mindbody practices, her past work includes professional integration of complementary therapies in the acute care and outpatient settings, developing wellness programs for professional staff and the general public, and participating collboratively in integrative health research as a clinician and as a consultant. Areas of interprofessional research have included chronic pain and quality of life, irritable bowel syndrome and symptom management, and diabetes and self-management. Caroline has spoken about her work to local, national, and international audiences. She also participates in international medical missions that aim to expand access to integrative healthcare for under-served populations in rural communities. She is actively involved with the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, having served on multiple committees and been elected to the Executive Board of the New York Chapter. Currently, she is an instructor with the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine’s Holistic Nursing Program and a PhD student whose research focus highlights the traditional healing and wellness practices of Mexican American women.
