Biography

Catherine A. Stubin is currently a PhD candidate at Widener University. The focus of her dissertation is undergraduate baccalaureate nursing student stress in the clinical environment. Catherine received her MSN from Widener University, and her BSN from The Pennsylvania State University. She has been a Registered Nurse for over three decades in various areas of nursing practice and education. Clinical practice expertise focuses on care of the acutely ill client with cardiac and pulmonary disorders, as well as the critically ill client experiencing cardiovascular surgery. She has held national certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse for 30 years.
Academic experience includes clinical nursing faculty positions in various undergraduate nursing programs. Clinical instruction includes specializations in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Neurology, Orthopedic Surgery, and Gynecologic Oncology. Catherine is currently an Assistant Professor of Nursing at LaSalle University, teaching Adult Advanced Medical-Surgical Nursing and Health Assessment to undergraduate baccalaureate nursing students. In addition, she has been responsible for classroom instruction to prepare a Graduate Nurse population for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) for 23 years. Catherine is an active member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Eastern Nursing Research Society, National League for Nursing, and Sigma Theta Tau, International Nursing Honor Society. Recent awards include the 2017 Eastern Nursing Research Society/NLN Dissertation Research Award and the 2017 Sigma Theta Tau- Eta Beta and Kappa Delta Chapters- Research Grant A wards. Catherine was also a recipient of the American Association of Critical Care Nurse’s Professional Development Scholarship from 2013-2017.
