Biography

Christine L. Sommers, PhD RN, CNE has been involved in teaching nurses in the hospital and academic setting for over 20 years. She has worked as a clinical nurse specialist and in staff development in the hospital setting and has also taught in ADN and BSN nursing programs. Her Bachelor of Science in Nursing was completed in 1989 from Cedarville University in Ohio, her Master’s in Nursing from University of Washington in 1992, and a post-master Nurse Educator certificate from Washington State University in 2010. She is currently enrolled in the PhD in nursing at University of Kansas. Her current research focus areas are use of flipped classroom and technology to meet challenges in culturally diverse nursing classrooms, evaluation of clinical reasoning and clinical judgment in nursing students globally, and best practices in teaching methods to prepare culturally diverse nursing students to meet current healthcare challenges. She is currently employed as the executive dean and lecturer in the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Pelita Harapan in Jakarta, Indonesia.
