Christopher J Yi
Biography
My name is Christopher J. Yi, and I graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Currently, I am working as a Medical/Telemetry Nurse at St. Francis Hospital, and, as a Public Health Nurse (PHN) for the City of Hartford, CT. After graduating less than two years ago, I have found that the best way to gain experience is to ‘throw’ myself, wholeheartedly, into the nursing profession. Maybe working 70-80 hours a week, between the two careers, was not the best way to do that, however, it has provided me with invaluable insight into the way I plan my future academic and professional endeavors. I have educated seniors at various senior centers throughout Hartford, CT on healthy aging, along with performing health screenings for the Women’s Healthy Heart Program at St. Francis Hospital. I have also had the pleasure of being a PHN for the City of Hartford Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative to educate Hartford’s youth on making informed decisions when it comes to their reproductive health. As of the Fall of 2014, I am starting my academic career as a Doctor of Nursing Practice student in Adult/Gero Acute Care at the University of Connecticut. I chose Geriatrics because they are a vulnerable population, and I have been told that I am very passionate and protective of my patients, along with being an advocate for their health.
