Biography

Daniel P. Ochylski (pronounced O-hill-ski), is currently a Doctor of Nursing Practice student at the University of Michigan where he received his master’s degree in Nursing Business and Health Systems-Policy. His scholarly work focuses on educational methodology associated with healthcare workforce development. These programs require complex, multi-system strategic planning, leadership and implementation processes and involves developing collaborative relationships with nurse leaders, academic researchers, community based organizations, recipients of care services, and home based caregivers, local, state and federal health agencies and workforce advocate groups. His clinical expertise is that of a nurse executive organizational leader and state-level project director. His most recent nursing leadership role was as RN project director for a federally funded, state wide, personal home care aide state training (PHCAST) demonstration project that developed, tested and evaluated an adult learner based, person-centered, educational program for personal care aides (PCAs) that provide supports and services to older adults within the community and home setting across Michigan. This program is a first step toward creating a national gold standard of education for PCAs, one of the nations fastest growing healthcare occupations. Creating this program from a zero base and leading this interdisciplinary team, required his advanced practice nursing knowledge of organizational strategic planning, leadership, group dynamics and a deep understanding of principles/processes of community based participatory research. Mr. Ochylski demonstrates his commitment to advancement of the nursing profession by using his expert skills, knowledge and attitude at the highest level possible to lead multidisciplinary healthcare projects of national importance.
