Biography

Debbie’s career as a nurse has found her in the practice areas of Critical Care, Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine. She has practiced as a bedside nurse, educator and manager. She has worked in her home state of Pennsylvania, Michigan and California. Debbie was part of a group of emergency nurses who developed and delivered presentations concerning alcohol related emergencies to elementary and high schools in Michigan. The emergency department that she managed was featured on NBC nightly news segment What works in health care: improving ER wait times (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/15819977#15819977) She received her MSN at UCLA with a Nursing Administration Specialty. Debbie’s research interests lie in the use of technology in health care, situational awareness in nursing and managing complex systems and their relationship to quality and safety.
