Biography

I am Trauma/Surgical Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist and a first year Nursing PhD student at the University of California-Irvine. I have been practicing critical care nursing for 15 years and have held a variety of positions including staff nurse, clinical educator and clinical nurse specialist. As an advanced practice nurse, I collaborate with members of the health care team to facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes for trauma surgery patients. My research/clinical practice interests include understanding and exploring the presence of turmoil, uncertainty and anxiety in family members of trauma patients as related to their immediate experience in the emergency department. I am also interested in the different forms of knowledge that drive clinical expertise and the different approaches that can help make clinical expertise and the knowledge behind it more transparent.
