Biography
I am an acute care nurse practitioner with experience as an emergency room nurse and work as a hospitalist as an ACNP. As an ER nurse I mentored and trained new nurses and was a clinical instructor for ACNP students. I also taught undergraduate nurses in a 4 year program at Chamberlain College and was the course coordinator for medical-surgical nursing. My current research interest is in examining health care overuse in the acute care setting, specifically the emergency department. I would like to examine this in terms of increased cost as well as how it affects patient outcomes, showing we can maintain favorable, in not better patient outcomes when providers are more judicious in their use of health care resources.
