Biography
Currently, I am a third year PhD Nursing Science student at the University of Washington School of Nursing and am a NIOSH ERC trainee. Overall, my research interest is on the wellbeing of workers who provide medical and social services to “vulnerable/marginalized” communities and may themselves be “vulnerable/marginalized”. Particularly, I am interested in the intersection of social constructs of race, gender, and class with work and non-work environments on worker wellbeing. My academic and professional career have shaped my population and topic of interest. My undergraduate training and work as a nurse in emergency medicine and my graduate education in public health and nursing opened opportunities to work abroad and locally with vulnerable/marginalized communities. Additionally, working in clinical practice as a FNP in community health over the last 6 years has further informed this research interest.

Dissertation: Worker wellbeing: Exploring the intersection of race, class, and gender with work and non-work environments among social service workers. A mixed methods approach will be used to examine and describe worker wellbeing in the context of the intersectionality of race, class and gender among social service workers.
