Biography

Gabrielle Harris is a family nurse practitioner and a PhD student in Duke University’s School of Nursing. Gabrielle earned both her Bachelors and Masters of Science in Nursing degrees from Winston Salem State University (WSSU). As a graduate student at WSSU, Gabrielle was a scholar in the Bridge to the Doctorate, a joint program between Duke and WSSU that prepares minority nurses to successfully transition to a doctorate program. Her research interests include parenting in young stroke survivors age 18 to 50 and post-stroke depression. She hopes to one day develop interventions that assist young stroke survivors in establishing normalcy in their lives, specifically as active parents.
