Biography
After graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno with a dual degree in Spanish and Nursing, I worked as a nurse in Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at a local hospital which grew my interest in improving patient outcomes through research on healthcare systems and the nursing workforce. My current research focuses on exploring ways to support nurses, especially new graduate nurses, within the hospital nursing work environment. In the future, my research will lead to better understanding, interventions, and policy initiatives to improve healthcare systems, nurse health, and ultimately patient outcomes. As a PhD student, I have also been able to expand my leadership skills through serving on various School and University-level committees, including the Graduate Programs Committee within the School of Nursing, the UW-Madison Lectures Committee, and School of Nursing Dean Search Committee. I am also serving as the Public Relations Chair for the Beta Eta-at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, and on the National Council for the Advancement of the Nursing Science.
