Julie Kittelsrud is currently working towards her PhD in Nursing through South Dakota State University in Sioux Falls, SD. She works as a nurse practitioner for the Avera Research Institute and Avera Institute for Human Genetics, where she is involved in programs and research related to pharmacogenetic evaluations for the Avera health system. Her PhD research is related to shift work and circadian desynchronization in type 1 diabetics who work shifts. She sits on the boards of two Institutional Review Committee’s and the hospital’s nursing research committee. Furthermore, she will attend the Summer Genetics Institute at the National Institute of Health this summer (2014).
