Biography

Lisa Broughton is a doctoral candidate at Villanova University where she is currently completing a PhD in Nursing. She is employed as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. She also continues to work as a staff nurse, with an expertise and national certification in critical care nursing. Her teaching interests include advanced medical-surgical/acute care nursing and nursing research. Ms. Broughton completed a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana and a Masters of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Nursing Education from Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is a member of the National League for Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. In Ms. Broughton’s current academic research a path analysis will be undertaken to examine the relationships among nurses’ work environment, nurses’ education level, and patient outcomes.
