Biography

Currently, I am a PhD student at Rutgers University. My research interests are focused on healthcare disparities among the inner city Hispanic population as it relates to mental health. I am a native New Yorker, born and raised in New York City. I completed my ADN in 1998 and began working in telemetry and medical ICU. Within two years I transferred to the emergency room where I remained for approximately thirteen years. I received my BSN in 2003 and immediately began contemplating graduate school. I graduated from Rutgers/UMDNJ with a MSN as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and began working with the adult mentally ill, while also assuming a teaching position in a RN diploma program. In 2012 I received a Post Master’s Certificate as an Adult Health nurse practitioner and assumed a primary care / cardiology role within a predominantly Hispanic community.
