Ms. Roane recently accepted a new position as the Assistant Director of Engagement with the PATient-centered Involvement in Evaluating effectivNess of Treatment (PATIENTS) program at the University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy. In this new role she will assist in leveraging innovative partnerships with patient communities and health care systems to ensure that patients, health care providers, and other partners are actively engaged in research. Prior to joining the PATIENTS program, Ms. Roane was employed as a Nurse Researcher at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC). In this role she mentored nurses in identifying patient care problems and processes to be addressed through the nursing research process. She managed ongoing research studies utilizing her expertise in research program operations and regulatory affairs. She facilitated the Nursing Research and Evidence-based Practice Council. Ms. Roane has extensive clinical and research experience in investigator-initiated research and industry-funded clinical trials. She worked in the Cardiac Intensive Care unit at Johns Hopkins Hospital and in the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology lab at Union Memorial Hospital. She is a graduate of the Clinical Research Management program at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. She also received a post-masters certificate in Global Health from the University of Maryland School of Nursing. During her Global Health program she served as a co-investigator on a maternal health research study, which she conducted in Kenya. She is a Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) and a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Societies.
