Marie Prothero, MSN, RN, FACHE
Biography
Marie is an experienced healthcare leader and has held several nursing and healthcare leadership positions over the past 27 years. She has focused building leadership skills and developing high functioning teams related to patient safety, performance improvement and hospital operations. Marie has been driven in all of her past positions to develop a culture of excellence, transparency and patient satisfaction which in turn has led to highly engaged employees. She is currently the Executive Director of Quality at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah where her leadership has been instrumental in creating a culture of safety and regulatory readiness. Marie is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and servese on the United Way of Utah County Board. Marie has recently been appointed to serve on the Western Institute of Nursing Membership Committee. Marie is a PhD student in the College of Nursing, and her research area of focus is the role apology in healthcare following a medical error and the subsequent patient and provider reconciliation. She is also a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at the University of Utah. Marie is dedicated to obtaining a full-time faculty position in nursing education and continue to contribute innovative approaches in the area of patient safety.
