Maryanne Sandberg received her ADN from Burlington County College, her BSN from University of Phoenix, and her MSN in nursing education from Western Governor’s University. She is currently pursuing her Ed.D in nursing education at the University of West Georgia. Ms. Sandberg is a member of the National League for Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Ms. Sandberg has practiced as a nurse for 30 years in a variety of settings. After working with children with developmental disabilities, she became interested in service-learning. When the school was looking for pediatric clinical sites, Ms. Sandberg advocated for the use of a developmental day center, eager for her students to experience working with this population. The student, client, and site response has been overwhelmingly positive. She was recently appointed the service-learning liaison for the nursing department and is actively involved in establishing more service-learning experiences in the curriculum. As an Ed.D student, Ms. Sandberg is interested in research regarding service-learning in nursing education, as well as other innovative teaching methods.
