Biography

I am currently enrolled full time in the Doctor of Family Nurse Practice program at the State University at Buffalo. I have my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from St John Fisher College. I’ve been a nurse for a little over six years. Most of my nursing experience comes from working medsurg in the Air Force during which time I served in California, Arizona, and Afghanistan. In 2013 I received the Air Force Achievement medal for my time served in Afghanistan. During my six years of nursing, I’ve gained experience as a floor nurse, charge nurse, and nurse manager. I have been medsurg certified since 2012 but have also worked in the ICU and as a community health educator which is my current position. I am proud of my time in the service and hope to continue to give back to the community by working with the veteran population. Beyond overall health and wellness of service members and veterans, I am specifically interested in how Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can affect the individual as well as the family and how this can be identified, addressed, and managed by nurse practitioners.
