Melissa McCoy Biography I am finishing my first year in the PhD Nursing Program at West Virginia University. I graduated with an associate degree in nursing from Bluefield State College in 1999, completed a BSN from Bluefield State College in 2004, and received a MSN from Radford University in 2004. Continued professional growth in nursing has been through practicing part-time as a registered professional nurse in critical care, teaching in the undergraduate associate degree in nursing program at Davis and Elkins College in theory and clinical since 2004, and teaching in the undergraduate RN to BSN program online at Davis and Elkins College since 2015. My research interests include life altering change focusing on chronic health conditions especially Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. I am also interested in utilizing informatics to allow access to health care with a focus on improved health outcomes to individuals in rural populations.
