Biography

Michele Flynch is in the first cohort of the new nursing PhD program and the first Jonas Scholar in the program at Pace University. She currently holds the position of Assistant Nurse Manager of Lenox Hill Hospital’s Medical ICU and Step-down Telemetry units. She is skilled at developing nursing teams in providing exceptional and compassionate patient care. Before joining Lenox Hill Hospital in 2016, she was a neurosurgical ICU nurse at Mount Sinai West.

Ms. Flynch has participated as a member of a multi-site, global research project. The research was designed to understand the experience of the Haitian Diaspora who had family and close friends in Haiti who were affected by the 2010 earthquake. Data were collected in New York, Montreal, Paris and London. Her role consisted of data analysis and manuscript development.

Ms. Flynch’s research interests relate to self-transcendence of registered nurses in acute healthcare settings. Michele is interested in how nurses transcend in highly stressed environments and strategies that can be implemented to assist acute care nurses to cope using novel approaches. She also has an interest in global health.

Ms. Flynch is an active member of American Nurses Association New York Chapter, American Association of Critical Care Nurses New York Chapter and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing New York Chapter.

Ms. Flynch received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Long Island University; a Master of Arts in Nursing Administration from Teacher’s College Columbia University; and is currently a PhD student at Pace University.
