Biography

Michelle High will be a PhD student at Rush University in the Nursing Sciences program starting in the fall of 2018. Her research interests include parenting and evidence-based interventions that can increase parenting knowledge, skills and confidence. She completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Chicago and received a rigorous liberal arts education with a concentration in Public Policy Studies. After two years of work experience with an agency serving children and families in crisis, Michelle decided to enter the nursing field with a passion for the promotion of child and family well-being and the prevention of child maltreatment. She then completed the General Entry Master’s Clinical Nurse Leader Program at Rush University and began her nursing career at Almost Home Kids (AHK), an affiliate site of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. At AHK, she provides transitional nursing care for children with complicated health needs and delivers training and education to caregivers so they can safely and successfully transition home with their child. She currently participates in professional governance as her nursing unit’s representative on the hospital-wide Nursing Research Council.
