Biography
I am currently in my second year of the BSN-PhD program in Clinical Translational Research with a Masters in Education. I am a full time employee at a non profit hospital where I am the Quality and Safety Specialist for the Emergency Room. I have been an emergency room nurse for 12 years including trauma centers. I want to continue my career in nursing as a nurse scientist. My areas of interest include thyroid cancer survivors and symptom management, genetic alterations leading to thyroid cancer, and work exposures that increase peoples risk of developing cancer. Currently at work I am a member of many committees involving quality and safety in the hospital. Last year I was chair of the Research and Evidenced-Based Practice Council. Currently, I am co-chair of the Emergency Management Committee. I am an active volunteer in the community through the hospital. I also volunteer my time at obstacle races, which I also participate in.
