Biography

Pamela Potter has dedicated twenty-two years to the safety of geriatric patients. She has written numerous facility protocols, policies and procedures to meet federal and state regulation for standards of care. She is currently enrolled at Southern University in Baton Rouge Nursing PhD program. She selected Southern University graduate program for the successful research intense program with a focus on vulnerable population. She received both her BSN and MSN from Grambling State University. Her work experience includes acute care, community based care, long term care and nursing education. As an experienced nursing educator, she has served in multiple levels including vocational LPN, ASN and BSN. She describes her teaching style as both innovated and student center. Her teaching strategies includes a well balance use of current technology, hands on application, games and traditional teaching techniques. Her personal belief of lifelong learning has provided her with motivation for multiple national certifications. She has received several work related awards and acknowledgements inclusive of “Nurse of the Year”. Her personal vison is to increase the quality and safety of the care of geriatric patients by assisting health care providers to overcome barriers for achievement of education progression. Her leadership skills were acknowledged resulting in an appointment to Louisiana League for Nursing Organization board.
