Biography

Rachel Onello, PhD(c), MS, RN, CNL, has been a member of the University of Maryland School of Nursing faculty since 2010 and currently serves as a clinical instructor in the Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health, teaching in first and final semester clinical and didactic courses for baccalaureate and Clinical Nurse Leader students. She has also served as the Assistant Director of the Clinical Simulation Labs and as an adjunct clinical instructor for entry level nursing students at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Mrs. Onello was one of 20 nurses from across the country accepted into the 2010-2011 National League for Nursing LEAD program for nurse educators transitioning to leadership positions. Her recent publications in peer reviewed journals focus on the use of a standardized framework for the design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical simulation in nursing education, as well as risk sensitization and outcome measurement within educational simulation. Rachel Onello holds an MS from the University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) in Clinical Nurse Leadership and a BS from the University of Maryland College Park in Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. She is currently a candidate for the PhD degree at the UMSON with a focus on faculty development among clinical instructors. Her doctoral dissertation work is funded by the Nursing Educator Doctoral Grant from the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
