Robin Whitney, RN, CPN

Biography

Robin is pursuing her PhD in Nursing Science and Health Care Leadership at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. Her research interests include health services and healthcare quality with a focus on cancer care. Robin received her BS in Nursing from the University of Southern Maine in 2006 and her BA in English and German from Bowdoin College in 2004, earning both degrees Magna cum Laude. She was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, Bowdoin College Chapter, and the Sigma Theta Tau honor society, Kappa Zeta-at-large chapter, upon completion of her respective degrees. Robin has worked as a med-surg nurse in both adult and pediatric acute care settings, earning a national certification in pediatric nursing in 2011. She has been working in leadership roles since 2010, both as a charge nurse in pediatric acute care and as a clinical supervisor in a short stay surgery department. Robin is currently a member of the Nursing Leadership Coalition, San Joaquin Valley Chapter, and a student member of the Western Institute of Nursing (WIN). At UC Davis she has served as a PhD cohort representative and Chair of the Graduate Nurse Council, and as a member of the Recruitment Advisory Committee for the Vice Chancellor of Health and Human Services and Dean for the UC Davis School of Medicine. Robin currently lives in Fresno, CA, where she continues to work as a Clinical Supervisor at Community Regional Medical Center.
