Biography

Sandra Peppard graduated from Texas Woman’s University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. In 2003, she received her Master of Science degree from the University of San Diego. Sandra served as a Navy Nurse Corps officer in numerous clinical, management, and leadership roles during her twenty-five-years military career, retiring from active duty as a Commander in 2004. During these assignments, she gained expertise in the specialties of medical-surgical, intensive care, post-anesthesia care, coronary care, labor and delivery, and ambulatory-care nursing. Sandra served in various roles, including department head of critical-care nursing and as Assistant Director, Nursing Manpower and Resources. She also worked as special assistant, Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organization Affairs. She is a two-time recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal and a two-time recipient of the Navy Achievement Medal. Currently, Sandra is a full-time professor at Southwestern College, School of Nursing. In addition, she is very active in the community as a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, Gamma Gamma Chapter and has served as past President-elect, President and Director of Programs. Sandra is in the PhD nursing program at the University of San Diego and is expected to graduate in 2020. Her research focuses on the relationship of quality of life with chronic pain and insomnia in woman on active duty and veterans.
