Biography

Sara Kuner – Henderson will graduate from the Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with a focus in Family Practice at the University of Louisville in August of 2020. Her pursuit of higher education was lead with the initiative to positively impact the local community by participating in primary care prevention. More specifically, Sara’s DNP project has an emphasis on home hygiene education among pediatric asthma patient caregivers. The goal of the project is to improve self-efficacy in a caregiver’s ability to transition their home to an asthma safe environment. Sara graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisville in May of 2016. During her undergraduate career she received guaranteed early admission to the School of Nursing (SON). Sara was actively involved in multiple SON activities; a few examples would include the Transition Ceremony, Florence Nightingale Awards Ceremony, and New Student Orientation. She participated in the international service learning program in Croatia, Europe and Botswana, Africa. She was granted an externship at Jewish Hospital in the Open-Heart Recovery Unit. She then served as President of the School of Nursing Student Government in her final year. Upon graduation, Sara was elected to represent the SON as the President’s Outstanding Graduate. Sara currently serves as a Registered Nurse Clinical Coordinator for Louisville Cardiology at Baptist Health in Louisville. She remains an active member in the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing.
