Biography

Sarah graduated from the Ohio State University with her BSN in June 2001 and has worked in settings across the care continuum in multiple locations. From big cities to medium-sized cities, to a village in far western Nepal, she has had such an amazing nursing journal thus far. Sarah has worked with patients and families who are awaiting or have received solid organ transplants, provided home therapy training and visits with patients performing peritoneal dialysis, and conducted staff education along the way. She earned her MN from the University of Washington Bothell in 2013 with a focus on education and leadership. She completed her PhD in Nursing from the University of Washington in June of 2018 and began the next stage of her journey in Alaska where she is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Alaska Anchorage. The program is working towards being a next-generation BSN and she has been fortunate to be one of the leaders on the curriculum redevelopment team. She is also working on disseminating the findings from her doctoral work on early identification of kidney disease in primary care and establishing new research connections here in Alaska.
