Biography

I want to be a catalyst for change in the health care community and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to make an impact in the lives of others! I began my nursing journey by being awarded a NROTC (Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps) Nursing Midshipmen Scholarship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Upon completing my training and earning my degree, I commissioned as an Officer in the United States Navy Nurse Corps. I had the honor and privilege to care for those who have served and continue to serve our nation on an inpatient oncology/palliative care unit. I was deeply inspired by those I cared for and became incredibly passionate about oncology nursing. I decided to continue to pursue oncology and earned my Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certificate. The idea of furthering my education for the betterment of serving others empowered me to apply for graduate education. I am proud to say that I am currently beginning the 3rd year of my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at the University of San Diego. I plan to use my degree to the fullest extent and educate and inspire my patients during each visit. By completing this evidence-based practice project, I will be able to give individuals the knowledge they need in order to make their own educated decisions. I believe that knowledge is power and that it is my role as a health care provider to equip patients with the tools they need to live life to the fullest.
