Shevellanie Lott, MSN, RN, CNE

Biography

Mrs. Lott currently serves as the Chairperson, of the Department of Undergraduate Nursing Education in the accelerated nursing program. She is currently enrolled in PhD program at Hampton University where her dissertation focuses on students perception of the factors which influence their retention and success. She has spent the majority of her nursing career in intensive care nursing, post-anesthesia care and nursing education. As a former faculty at the Central School of Practical Nursing, she has dedicated her time and attention to mentoring students to become competent and dedicate professionals. At Hampton University she continues to focus on the success of students, where she teaches Nursing Research, Pathophysiology, Adult Health I & II, Dosage Calculations, Pharmacology and senior seminar. With over 18 years of nursing education experience as a Certified Nurse Educator, Mrs. Lott continues to cultivate her interest in the success of students. She has written two funded grants which focused on student retention and promoting youths interest in biomedical health and library science careers. Mrs. Lott has received several distinguished teaching awards as a nurse educator, recently she was named a Jonas Scholars. She is the recipient of the Edward L. Hamm Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award, and an American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Minority Nurse Faculty Scholar. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, the National League for Nursing, The Virginia Nurses Association (VNA) and the American Nurses Association (ANA).
