Biography

Suzanne S. Sullivan is a 3rd year PhD student and research assistant at the University at Buffalo (UB) School of Nursing. Ms. Sullivan has extensive experience working in the hospice and home health care setting in a variety of roles including, certified nurse’s aide, RN case manager, and administrator. Her NIH-funded (F31) program of research uses a health informatics, data science solution to identify community-dwelling frail elders who may benefit from quality end of life (EOL) care and to promote advance care planning for those facing the final stage of life. Ms. Sullivan is a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse (CHPN) and has a dual-specialty MBA in Healthcare Administration and Innovation Entrepreneurship from Northeastern University. A life-long resident of the Florida Keys, Ms. Sullivan is also an adjunct professor of nursing at Florida Keys Community College (FKCC) and is recipient of the Distinguished Nursing Graduate Award from this institution. Ms. Sullivan has received multiple awards for her informatics and EOL research, is a recipient of the Shirley DeVoe Doctoral Dissertation Research Award from UB, and received the Edna Stilwell Writing Award from the Journal of Gerontological Nursing for her work in identifying national priorities for individuals living with dementia and their care partners. Ms. Sullivan is a member of the ANA, STTI Gamma Kappa Chapter, HPNA, ENRS, and Gerontological Society of America. She is a Literacy Volunteer and member of the Context of Care and Clinical Data Work group at the University of Minnesota, School of Nursing.
