Tammy Cohen Fetterman, ANCC

New York University DNP
Biography

I am currently enrolled in the DNP program at NYU. After completing my Master’s of Arts in Advanced Practice Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing at NYU in 2002 , I have been in pursuit of many avenues to remain stimulated intellectually, as well as keeping current in the issues and trends in nursing and healthcare. I have attended many conferences throughout the years in my field, been a part of academia in the role of adjunct faculty, published in the field of psychiatric nursing, maintained membership in professional organizations, and been a presenter of many podium presentations. I was fortunate enough to start my career, at NYU Medical Center on the neurosurgical unit as a staff nurse immediately after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Molloy College in 1997. I worked full-time on the acute in patient psychiatric unit, while pursing my MA and NP certification at NYU, which proved to be a wonderful complement to each other in terms of educational development. I have also enjoyed working in academia, nourishing potential nurses at different levels of entry into their careers -from the associate degree program, LPN s returning to pursue the RN degree, or the BSN, and Advanced Practice Nurse in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. My experience as an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner has included working in my role at NYU Langone Medical Center as the Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Nurse Practitioner and Coordinator. I also have experience with providing psychotherapy and psychopharmacology in a private practice setting in NYC.
