Biography

Thomas Julian is a lifelong resident of New England, born in Springfield, Massachusetts in April 1985. After graduating from Wilbraham Monson Academy, Thomas enrolled as an undergraduate at Clark University. He later transferred to the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in May 2007. Thomas obtained employment in Circulation Services at American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts, wherein he pursued graduate coursework in clinical psychology. Electing to return to school and obtain a nursing education, Thomas was enrolled in the inaugural cohort of twelve students within the Accelerated Second Bachelor’s Degree Program at Elms College, in Chicopee, Massachusetts, in September 2011. Areas of research scholarship undertaken at the undergraduate level included addiction and pain control, and geriatric psychopharmacology. Thomas graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Summa Cum Laude, in May 2013. He was admitted into the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society, and awarded the Academic Prize from the Department of Nursing for graduation with the highest cumulative grade point average. During this time period, he was employed within the mental health profession, serving as a Forensic Counselor, and later as a Psychiatric Nurse. Thomas is currently enrolled in the PhD Program at the University of Connecticut Storrs, with the intention of pursuing teaching and research as a member of an academic university faculty.
