Biography

Valicia V. Philibert is the Resident Assessment Coordinator and Quality Assurance Specialist of the Quality Management Department at the James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center, New York. She is also a Professor in the College of New Rochelle- School of Nursing and Healthcare Professions. She possesses board certified specialties as a Clinical Nurse Leader and Resident Assessment Coordinator.  She is currently pursuing her PhD at The Graduate Center of the City of New York, where her research will focus on her passions for the geriatric population and quality care; with an overall goal of designing research to improve the care of residents in Long Term Care facilities.  Ms. Philibert is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Honor Society- Delta Zeta Chapter, where she serves as an elected member of the Leadership Governance Committee and as the lead on all the Veterans initiatives.  Ms. Philibert is committed to the delivery of quality care. In 2014, she was the recipient of the James J Peters Medical Center: 5th Annual Best Practices award for her poster presentation- Timely& Effective Care: To Improve the Discontinuance of Prophylactic Antibiotics Post Surgery. She also received the Certificate of Nursing Excellence from the James J Peters Medical Center in May2016 and the Certificate of Merit for Commitment to Excellence in Clinical Practice from Hunter College in May 2013.  Ms. Philibert earned a B.S in Nursing from Herbert H. Lehman College (2007) and a M.S in Nursing from Hunter College (2013).
