Biography

Victoria S. Evans, CNM, MS, MPH has been a Certified Nurse-Midwife for 29 years. She is currently pursuing her DNP at Frontier Nursing University. Vicki graduated from Columbia University with an MS in Nurse-Midwifery and an MPH in Population and Family Health. Her experience has included private practice midwifery, inner city obstetrical services, successful grant writing to fund new antepartum clinics for the women below the poverty level, family planning clinics and most recently university teaching as an Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Maine at Augusta. During her employment at the University of Maine at Augusta, she was asked to join a new beginning midwifery practice serving the Kennebec Valley, thereby providing midwifery care to a population that previously did not have that option. She is happy to say that the midwifery practice is in its eighth year, has been well received and is going strong. Vicki continues to teach at the University of Maine at Augusta and practice midwifery with Maine General Midwifery Service. Vicki is actively involved in community health initiatives. She sits on the Board of Incorporators at her local hospital and has served on ad hoc committees. She is a member of the peer review committee at the hospital where she practices, and is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives on the national and state level.
