Whitney R. Batsel graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2011 from Florida State University with a Bachelors of Science in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. She subsequently attended the University of South Florida and attained a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2013. While attending the University of South Florida, Whitney was inducted as a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, Golden Key National Honor Society, and the Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society. She also served as a mentor in the University’s College of Nursing Student Lab Mentorship program. Currently, Whitney is a full time student at the University of South Florida working to accomplish her goal of becoming a Doctor of Nursing Practice, pursuing the family practice concentration. Whitney has recently been chosen as University of South Florida recipient for a 2014-2016 Jonas DNP Veterans Healthcare Scholarship. As a Jonas Scholar, Whitney will be working with the members of the Academic Committee of the Florida Suncoast Regional Action Team to support achievement of the Committee’s priority goals, which include, but are not be limited to, furthering the realization of the IOM Future of Nursing Report recommendations. Whitney’s future goals include working as a primary care provider for a diverse patient population while becoming a leader in the field to aid in advancing the nursing profession as a whole.
