Xinyi Grey, RN

University of Utah DNP
Biography

My name is Xinyi Grey and I am a first year Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) student at University of Utah College of Nursing. I have been a registered nurse for eleven years, and I have worked in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. I currently work for Pediatric Surgery Clinic at Primary Children Hospital as a clinic nurse. I was born and raised in Shanghai, China. In 2001, I moved to Saipan, Northern Marianas Island to attend college. In 2003, I graduated with my Associate of Science (Nursing) from Northern Marians College with honor, and was on the President’s list for the school year of 2003. After graduation, I remained in Saipan for eight years and worked as a Registered Nurse, providing care to patients across the lifespan. While continuing to work full-time, I returned to school at the University of Phoenix to complete my bachelor’s degree. I completed the degree in 2010 with a GPA of 3.71. The project that I am interested in undertaking is one that explores the effect of PTSD on intimate relationships for female veterans. Many veterans with PTSD have difficulty in dealing with intimate relationships. Having and maintaining a healthy relationship with a significant other can promote PTSD recovery. I would like to study the possible association between PTSD and intimate relationship issues in order to advance my understanding, disseminate the importance of this topic, and develop a method for helping individuals who are affected by PTSD obtain a healthy relationship with their partners.
